Payroll

Payroll for small businesses in Finland

We run payroll in Finland for small employers from the first hire: the payslips, the Incomes Register report within five days of payday, the amounts due on the 12th and the holiday pay liability that builds up in the background. It costs 15 euros per pay run plus VAT, charged only in the months a payroll is actually run, and it is available in English or Hindi alongside our bookkeeping.

What one pay run includes

One run is one pay date, whether you pay one person on it or a few.

  • Payslips showing the gross pay, the withholdings and the net pay, ready for payday when the hours and changes reach us in time.
  • The earnings payment report to the Incomes Register (tulorekisteri) within five days of payday, and the employer's separate report by the 5th of the following month.
  • The amounts to pay: we calculate the withheld tax and the employer's health insurance contribution and tell you what to pay in MyTax by the 12th of the following month. Your pension company and the Employment Fund invoice you from the same data.
  • The bookings behind it, holiday pay liability included, in the books we keep for you.

What an employer has to have in place

  • Accident insurance before the work starts; it cannot be taken out retroactively.
  • The employee's tax card; without one, 60 % is withheld.
  • Earnings-related pension (TyEL) from the first employee's wages. In 2026 the total contribution averages 24.40 % of wages, of which the employee pays 7.30 %.
  • Occupational health care, compulsory from the first employee.

The full list, in order, is in our article on hiring your first employee, and what the statutory contributions add on top of the salary, at average rates, in our article on payroll costs: on a 3 000 euro monthly salary, just under 20 % more in 2026.

Payroll15 € / runOne run is one pay date, whether you pay one person on it or a few. It covers the payslips, the Incomes Register report within five days, and the payments due on the 12th. Charged only in the months a payroll is actually run, whether that is once a year or every month.

Payroll is added to the monthly bookkeeping price only in months with a pay date: a company that pays a salary once a year pays for one run.

The owner's own salary

In an Oy, an owner in a leading position, such as managing director or board member, who holds more than 30 % of the shares alone, or more than 50 % together with family members, is insured under YEL, not TyEL; the salary still goes through payroll and the Incomes Register. Whether salary or dividends suit you better is in our article on salary or dividends.

How it starts

Tell us how many people you pay, how often, and whether a collective agreement applies to your sector. Besides the tax mandate, we need the Incomes Register mandate (Reporting earnings payment data) in Suomi.fi; our guide shows how to approve it. Payroll is available alongside our bookkeeping for a limited company or a sole trader.

Tell us about your business

Say whether you are a sole trader or a limited company, roughly how many receipts and sales invoices you have a month, and whether you pay salaries. You get a written price before anything starts.
