How to choose the best accounting company in Helsinki

Published 25 September 2026

The best accounting company in Helsinki for your business is the one whose price, scope and way of working fit yours, and the questions below help you check that before you sign. We are an accounting firm in Helsinki, so this guide ends with our own answers; the questions work for any firm, us included.

Know what you need first

  • Your business form. A sole trader (toiminimi) and a limited company (Oy) have different bookkeeping and filings. Our article on toiminimi or Oy sets out the differences.
  • VAT. If you are in the VAT register, returns are due every month, quarter or year; see our article on VAT return deadlines.
  • Payroll. Paying salary, including to yourself from an Oy, means payroll reporting; see what a first employee costs.
  • The year-end. An Oy's financial statements and tax return have fixed deadlines; see financial statement deadlines.
  • Language. Decide which language you want to discuss your own numbers in.

Seven questions to ask any accountant, us included

  1. What does a year cost in total? Ask for the yearly figure including the financial statements, the tax return and any software, not only the monthly fee.
  2. Is the accounting software included? If there is a separate licence, ask what it costs and whether you keep paying for it if you leave.
  3. Is there a limit on receipts or invoices, and what does each one above it cost?
  4. What does payroll cost, and is it charged per pay run or per person?
  5. Who does your books, and who answers your email?
  6. When will you hear what to pay before a VAT due date?
  7. Is the firm registered? Search its business ID at ytj.fi: the entry shows whether it is in the Trade Register, the prepayment register and the VAT register, and has a section for the tax debt register.

Our own answers

This is how Karma Accounts answers those seven questions.

Software included: no ERP licence on top

Karma Accounts runs its own bookkeeping system (ERP). It is part of the monthly price: there is no software licence on top, and nothing you have to keep paying for if you leave. Included means included in the price, not free. It covers the software your books are kept in; your bank account and any sales or payment apps you choose stay your own.

Prices and what they include

BusinessPrice a month, without VAT
Sole trader, turnover up to 240 000 €69 €
Limited company, turnover up to 240 000 €199 €
Limited company, turnover above 240 000 €249 €

Each price includes the bookkeeping, the VAT returns, the year-end (the financial statements and the tax return for a company, the business tax return for a sole trader) and the accounting software, with no limit on receipts. A sole trader with more than 240 000 euros of turnover pays the company prices. Payroll is 15 euros per pay run. VAT of 25.5 % is added to every price.

  • One accountant. The owner does your books and answers your email, in English or Hindi.
  • Amounts before due dates. You hear the VAT to pay before its due date.
  • Anywhere in Finland. We are in Helsinki and work online, so the business does not have to be.
  • Checkable. Karma Accounts Oy, business ID 3651800-4, has been in the Trade Register since 8 September 2026 and in the prepayment and VAT registers since 1 September 2026.

If working in English is what decides it for you, our page on an English-speaking accountant in Helsinki covers how that works. The full price list and what we do each month and year have the details, and you can book a first conversation.
